Works during January 2017
During January, our demolition programme was slightly delayed due to us encountering asbestos within the existing school’s slab. Our licensed contractor successfully removed the asbestos, allowing the demolition to school’s foundations to continue. The sewer amendment works within Britannia Walk have now been completed and both the footway and highway reopened to the public. We would like to thank residents for their patience whilst these works were being undertaken.
Construction of two of the sites new vehicle entrances has been completed, and our new concrete logistics road on the east of the site has been constructed as far as possible at this time. Construction of the foundations for the site offices has commenced in the north east corner of the site.
February will see ground probing taking place at the positions of the new foundation piles. Following on from the probing, site wide excavation will commence ready for the foundations and piles to be installed. Demolition material from the old school will be reused as part of the base layer for the foundations and piles, thereby helping to reduce the number of vehicles travelling to the site. Our site cabins and welfare will also be installed, allowing us to vacate the existing school’s temporary buildings.
Planned works for February
