In August, internal works to the school has continued. The tower’s concrete frame works have been completed and removal of the protective screens has commenced. Window and glazing works have commenced on the Nile Street Block, enabling internal works to start on Level 01.
During September, the project will swap onto permanent electricity supply. This means that all the generators can be removed from site. The school’s fit-out works will continue as the electrical works progress through the building. The tower’s façade and internal works will continue, with the heated flooring works starting on the lower levels. Window installation and internal works will continue in the Nile Street Block.
We have received the results from our fourth Considerate Constructors review and are pleased to announce that yet again we have increased our score to 43, from 41 out of 50. This reflected increased scores in the appearance of the site and valuing our workforce. The average industry score is 36. The scheme is a non-profit making, independent organisation founded in 1997 by the construction industry to improve its image.
A young person from the Southwark Skills Academy joined us for us a week’s work experience on site. They didn’t know anything about the construction industry, so we provided them with an overview of the career paths available and let them spend a day with each department on site. They found it a very valuable experience and now looking at options in the construction industry.
